Ginevra Held

Ginevra draws inspiration for her work from her internationally diverse background. She was born in Australia, grew up in San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury district, and travels annually to Paris and to the South of France where her family has a home. With the south of France as her base, she has travelled extensively throughout Europe, visiting the grand cities, museums and great estates of the continent. Ginevra holds a degree in Architecture from UC Berkeley and jokingly says that she also has a degree in Art History, after having spent many, many wonderful hours touring the world’s best museums with her Mum (whose doctorate is in Art History). Raised by that mother and a father who holds a Masters Degree in Architecture from Harvard, art and design are in Ginevra's DNA.  Surrounded by books on art and architecture, Ginevra did her homework at a Saarinen Tulip table and took naps on an LC4.

Drawing inspiration from classical Art and Architecture, and then fusing those influences with street art sensibility of color and spray paint, Ginevra experiments with the juxtaposition of ancient art, Renaissance old masters, contemporary art, female sensuality,  the place where architecture and the body meet and meld, and reclaiming the female nude.

Ginevra has lived in Sydney, where she practiced Architecture, Paris where she studied interior design, and London where she studied Historic Preservation.

She currently lives in San Francisco with her brother, a glass artist.
