I have been commissioned by one of my best clients, (that would be my lovely mother) to take a look at the guests rooms at her property in Southern France.
I know it sounds hoakie to say your mother is your client, but when said mother has 3 houses, I call that a Decorator’s dream. My mother owns three homes, 2 in France, 1 in San Francisco (try explaining that to a 3 year old - no really, try, I did, in French, it went like this -
Me: Yes, this is Beverly’s house.
3 year old: Beverly’s house is next door to mine.
Me: Yes and this is her’s too.
3 year old: But where is Beverly?
Me: She is at her other house.
3 year old: The house next to mine?
Me: No her other house.
3 year old: This house where we are now?
Me: No, she is in another house. It is far away. You have to get on an airplane.
3 year old: Airplane?
Thats pretty much where the conversation ended. Who’s on first? That's right. Well what's the guys name on first? No what’s on second, who’s on first. Thats what I’m asking you. Who’s on first? That’s right. I may as well have been discussing Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny.
First I am going to take a look at 4 of the guest rooms in her 9 bedroom property in the Dordogne region of France. Did you know that it is just an hour flight from London to Bergerac in the heart of the Dordogne?
I will be chronicling my tweaks. Essentially the rooms are like that Gwyneth Paltrow cookie recipe. I am going to make some styling adjustments and chronicle them here.
First though, I am going to start by styling them and playing with the “props” on hand, to see how these rooms can change. Then will come the additive phase. So I am going to chronicle all of that here. So stay tuned!
Here are the rooms as they are now:
Beautiful huh? They just need a little more personality....
